The Federal Government has announced the opening of free admission into Federal Technical Colleges across Nigeria, in a move aimed at strengthening technical and vocational education.
According to a statement by the Federal Ministry of Education, the application portal will officially open on Monday, January 26, 2026. The initiative, approved by the Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Alausa, is designed to equip young Nigerians with practical and industry-relevant skills that support employment creation and economic growth.
The Ministry’s spokesperson, Boriowo Folasade, disclosed that the Federal Government will fully sponsor the education of all candidates who secure admission into the colleges. The programme is open to applicants aged between 13 and 20 years.
Prospective students are required to apply through the official National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB) portal, with a valid National Identification Number (NIN) listed as a mandatory requirement.
Registration will close on Sunday, May 24, 2026, while the National Common Entrance Examination is scheduled to be conducted nationwide on Saturday, June 6, 2026.
The Ministry advised parents and guardians to obtain information only from official government channels, reiterating that expanding access to quality technical education is critical to youth empowerment and sustainable national development.
