The federal government of Nigeria has reversed its earlier decision on the resumption of schools, noting that schools are not reopening anytime soon.
The Minister of Education, Mallam Adamu Adamu made this known to journalists after a virtual Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting, at the villa Today. He said, Nigerian students will not participate in the forthcoming West African Examination Council(WAEC), for now due to the coronavirus pandemic
Adamu noted that the government prefers the students lost an academic year than to expose them to the dangers of COVID-19 as the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) cannot determine the resumption date of schools for Nigeria.
Minister of State for Education, Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba had earlier announced, during a media briefing on July 6 that the examination would take place between August 4 and September 5, 2020.
