Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike says the state has instituted a legal means to ensure the Federal Government return backlog of Value Added Tax collected from the state.
Wike, disclosed this during a one day interactive session with business owners to state the position of the law on VAT, in Port Harcourt on Wednesday.
He said with the ruling of a Federal High Court, which mandated state governments to collect VAT, the state will ensure the federal government refund backlog of tax collected.
The governor, during the meeting threatened to seal up any organization that fails to pay their tax to the state government beginning from September.
He also threatened to seal up all offices of the Federal Inland Revenue Service, if they continue to bully the state government.
