The Federal Government says Nigerians living with kidney disease can now access dialysis at a subsidised rate of ₦12,000 per session in select federal hospitals across the country, following a directive by President Bola Tinubu.
Media aide to the President, Bayo Onanuga described the measure as a humane policy to ease the financial burden on patients, stating that it s being implemented in ten hospitals in the first phase.
The facilities include: Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Ebute-Metta, Lagos; FMC, Jabi, Abuja; University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan; FMC, Owerri; University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital (UMTH), Maiduguri; FMC, Abeokuta; Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH), Lagos; FMC, Azare; University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH), Benin; and University of Calabar Teaching Hospital (UCTH), Calabar.
According to him, additional federal medical centres and teaching hospitals are expected to be enrolled before the end of the year to expand access nationwide.
