Founder of the Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, has revealed that the federal government earns 52 kobo in revenue from every N1 generated by the company’s cement business.
Dangote made the disclosure on Wednesday, May 21, while speaking at the 2025 Taraba International Investment Summit.
“It might be surprising to many, but the federal government, not the states, makes more from our cement operations. For every N1 in revenue, 52 kobo goes to the federal government,” he stated.
Dangote emphasized the critical role governments play in enabling investment by creating a business-friendly environment, which in turn leads to tax revenues that fund essential public services.
“We often say government has no business in business, and that may be true. But how else will they fund education, hospitals, roads, and infrastructure? It’s through taxes,” he said.
Citing international examples, Dangote noted that the U.S. government does not own oil blocks but remains a top global oil producer, generating substantial income through taxation.
