The Federal Government has commissioned upgraded laboratory equipment at the University of Port Harcourt, aimed at boosting research, innovation, and capacity development in the institution.

The commissioning, held on Thursday, was carried out by the Honourable Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Chief Uche Geoffrey Nnaji, who was represented by the Director-General of the National Office for Technology Acquisition and Promotion (NOTAP), Dr. Obiageli Amadiobi.

Nnaji commended the partnership between NOTAP and PZ Cussons, which facilitated the donation of the equipment, describing it as a model of collaboration between government and the private sector. He reiterated the Federal Government’s commitment to equipping institutions with tools and partnerships to advance science and technology in Nigeria.

In his remarks, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Port Harcourt, Prof. Owunari Abraham Georgewill, represented by the Acting Provost of the College of Health Sciences, Prof. Onyeanunam Ekeke, expressed appreciation to NOTAP and PZ Cussons. He noted that the intervention would strengthen the university’s research and training capacity.
