The Federal Government has prohibited all Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) from receiving cash for revenue payments, directing that all transactions must now be carried out electronically through POS machines and other approved digital platforms.
According to the new directive, a system known as the Revenue Assurance and Validation Optimisation Platform (RevOP) has been launched to monitor government revenue in real time. The government emphasized that no MDA is permitted to use private or unapproved payment channels, and all local and foreign accounts must be fully declared.
Only payment service providers licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and approved by the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation are allowed to operate under the new arrangement. Agencies that violate the guidelines risk sanctions, including restricted access to government financial systems.
The government said the policy is aimed at improving transparency, blocking leakages and strengthening public finance management across all agencies.
