The Federal Government has approved the disbursement of funds to 15 TETFund beneficiary institutions to establish innovation hubs and entrepreneurship centres aimed at fostering applied research and technological innovation.
The initiative will see the creation of Core Labs and Workstations covering areas such as electronics, 3D printing, laser technology, product design, robotics, artificial intelligence, and coding, among others.
Three universities—Federal University Dutse, University of Uyo, and University of Ibadan—will each receive N1 billion, while the remaining 12 institutions will get N750 million each.
The other beneficiaries include: Federal Polytechnic, Bida; Taraba State Polytechnic, Jalingo; Adamawa State Polytechnic, Yola; Nuhu Bamali Polytechnic, Zaria; Kano State Polytechnic, Kano; Akanu Ibiam Federal Polytechnic, Uwana; Auchi Polytechnic, Edo; Bayelsa State Polytechnic, Aleibiri; Federal Polytechnic, Ede; Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo; College of Education (Technical), Kabba; and Enugu State College of Education (Technical).
TETFund stated that the initiative is designed to fast-track the uptake of promising research outcomes and provide solution-driven, multidisciplinary hubs tailored to the needs of each institution.
