The Speaker of Nigeria’s House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila has revealed that in spite of billions of naira available to the (NDDC), it has failed the people of the region.

Gbajabiamila made the revelation during an investigative hearing on the alleged financial mismanagement and fraudulent activities in the commission.

The speaker said, “I am  encouraging all the stakeholders to consider this investigative hearing as a last-ditch effort to save the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) and to engage with this committee in a patriotic partnership to break the jinx of underdevelopment in the Niger Delta region.”

He noted that the purpose of the investigative hearing is to ask why the failure persists and to do so with a determination to understanding the causes of that failure so that the parliament can redeem the commission.
