The Federal High Court in Abuja has debunked reports alleging an assassination attempt on Justice James Omotosho, the judge who convicted and sentenced Nnamdi Kanu for terrorism offences.
In a statement issued on Saturday, the Court’s Chief Registrar, Suleiman Hassan, said the report—circulated by a blog—was “completely false and unfounded.” He described the publication as “fake news” aimed at misleading the public and eroding trust in the judiciary.
“The public is advised to treat this publication as fake news and refrain from further dissemination to prevent the spread of misinformation,” the statement read.
Justice Omotosho had on Thursday, November 20, found Kanu guilty of terrorism-related charges and sentenced him to life imprisonment.
