Federal College of Fisheries and Marine Technology Kicks off in Andoni

… As Rivers Government hands over school to Agricultural Research Council of Nigeria.

Rivers State government has handed over Model Secondary school Ngo, in Andoni Local Government Area to the Federation Government of Nigeria through the Agricultural Research Council of Nigeria for the establishment of Ngo Campus of the Federal College of Fisheries and Marine Technology .

Performing the hand over ceremony today in his office in Port Harcourt, the Commissioner for Education Prof Prince Chinedu Mmom JP said Rivers State Government is passionate about bringing development to every part of the state and advice that the facility must be put to use within twelve months of signing the agreement adding that Rivers State government will also provide whatever assistance that will enable the success of the campus.

In his words ” this school is handed over to Agricultural Research Council of Nigeria to be used as Ngo Campus of the Federal College of Fisheries and Marine Technology and this facility given to you must be put to use within twelve months from today”.

Prof. Mmom appreciated the member representing Andoni – Opobo/Nkoro Federal Constituency in the House of Representative Hon. Dr. Awaji-Inombek Abiante for negotiating the establishment of the campus of the Federal College of Fisheries and Marine Technology to be cited at Ngo in Rivers State.

Responding, the Executive Secretary of the Agricultural Research Council of Nigeria Prof. Sheributu Gar”ba noted that Honourable Awaji-Inombek Abiante fought very hard for the approval of the citing of the Ngo Campus of the Federal College of Fisheries and Marine Technology to Rivers State and thanked him for bringing development to the people he is representing.

He said that the Agricultural Research Council of Nigeria will ensure that the campus operates at full standards and gave tributes to the government of Rivers State led by His Excellency Chief Barr. Nyesom Ezenwo Wike for opening the doors of the state for Educational research development in the rural communities.

Member representing Andoni-Opobo/Nkoro Federal Constituency in the Federal House of Representative Hon. Dr. Awaji-Inombek Abiante said the campus is the first research training institution to be established in the South South.

He said the campus can be turned to a full flaged University in the nearest future and thanked Governor Wike for releasing the government facility in Ngo for use as take off campus for the college.
