The Independent National Electoral Commission has pledged that results from the upcoming Federal Capital Territory Area Council elections will be transmitted instantly from polling units.
The assurance was given on Tuesday by INEC Chairman, Joash Amupitan, after he conducted an inspection of the commission’s preparedness in Kuje, Gwagwalada, and Bwari Area Councils ahead of the February 21, 2026 elections.
He explained that the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) has been reliably deployed for both voter accreditation and real-time result upload since it was introduced, adding that the commission will maintain its operational standards.
According to him, the technology is fully equipped to handle accreditation as well as the electronic transmission of results directly from polling units.
Amupitan also expressed confidence in the level of readiness across the councils, noting that Kuje recorded 99.9 percent preparedness, Gwagwalada reached 90.8 percent, while Bwari achieved full readiness for the polls.
