The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has released the names of 12 suspects arrested in connection with the brutal killing of ARISE News reporter, Somtochukwu Christella Maduagwu, and a security guard, Barnabas Danlami, during a robbery incident in Abuja.

A statement from the Command identified the suspects as Shamsudeen Hassan (Malumfashi, Katsina State), Hassan Isah, 22 (Zaria, Kaduna State), Abubakar Alkamu, 27 (Musawa, Katsina State), Sani Sirajo, 20 (Malumfashi, Katsina State), Mashkur Jamili, 28 (Igabi, Kaduna State), Suleiman Badamasi, 21 (Malumfashi, Katsina State), Abdulsalam Saleh (Katsina LGA, Katsina State), Zaharadeen Muhammad, 23 (Chikun, Kaduna State), Musa Adamu, 30 (Malumfashi, Katsina State), Sumayya Mohammed, 27 (Sammaka, Kaduna State), Isah Abdulrahman, 25 (Zaria, Kaduna State), and Musa Umar, 31 (Maiduguri, Borno State).

Police sources revealed that four of the suspects — Shamsudeen Hassan, Hassan Isah, Abubakar Alkamu, and Sani Sirajo — were initially apprehended shortly after the incident and confessed to their involvement in the crime.

According to the statement, Shamsudeen confessed to shooting the security guard, while Sirajo claimed he attempted to hold Maduagwu as she fell from the third floor during the attack. Shamsudeen also admitted to driving away the victims’ white Honda CR-V after the operation.

The suspects allegedly shared ₦200,000 each from the proceeds of the robbery.

The Police Command reiterated its commitment to ensuring justice for the victims and called on residents to continue providing useful information that could aid ongoing investigations.
