Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has reportedly cautioned his political allies against making public statements concerning the recently brokered peace agreement between him and Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara.
Sources familiar with the development said Wike convened a closed-door meeting with some of his close associates, including former Chairmen of Ikwerre and Emohua Local Government Areas, Samuel Nwanosike and Chidi Lloyd. During the meeting, Wike allegedly issued a stern warning, instructing them not to grant media interviews or make public comments regarding the reconciliation process.
The former Rivers State Governor was also said to have expressed strong disapproval over recent remarks by the state’s All Progressives Congress (APC) Chairman, Tony Okocha, who claimed that Fubara would still be impeached even if he joined the APC. Wike reportedly rebuked Okocha and warned him against further media engagements on the matter.
This comes days after President Bola Tinubu facilitated a meeting between Wike and Governor Fubara at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, leading to a public truce following months of intense political rift between both men.
