Former Senator and Chieftain of the People’s Democratic Party, Shehu Sani has reacted to threats by the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike to chase beggars out of Abuja from Monday.
Wike, had in a statement few days ago said beggars were turning the nation’s capital into a “beggar city” and vowed to take them off the streets.
However, Sani in a statement on his X handle said, chasing out beggars from Abuja is like hiding a sickness instead of curing it.
According to him, the Abuja beggars are not tarnishing our image, but represent the hidden images we don’t want the world to see.
“Chasing out beggars from Abuja is like hiding our sickness instead of curing it or hiding our laundry instead of cleaning it. The Abuja beggars don’t tarnish our image, they represent our hidden images that we don’t want the world to see,” he said.
