A Case Of Absolute Power In The Wrong Hand
It was “Lord John Dalberg-Action” in his letter to bishop Creighton in late 18th century that said, “Power Corrupts & Absolute Power Corrupts Absolutely”
‘Absolute Power’ has corrupted our dear Governor Nyesom Wike absolutely, and now every perceived dissent is facing his fury and the bite of his fang. But from what premise does he derive such power to declare a Rivers citizen wanted without any prior investigation by security agencies saddled with the responsibility to do so?
In 2020, in the hit of the Covid-19 lock down, it was a young man from the great community of ONNE called “Stanley Ngbere” who was a victim of this absolutely power corruption, he was even tag an IPOB leader in Eleme, but for the intervention of CSO’s and cries of well meaning citizens who knew the young man was a complete opposite of the name tag given him, his case would’ve been a sorry one. He however spent about a month in the security drag-net before he was unleashed and given back his freedom without any charge whatsoever.
The beautiful thing about the declaration of Dr Farah Dagogo wanted is that, they are both in the elite class of our society, they are a perfect match to slog it out with each other. However, the sad part is, what happens when this power drunkenness pushes the Governor again towards a poor helpless and defenceless Rivers man or woman? Who will be the white knight to save the day?
Well, the NDLEA has just muttered that they’re going to carry out a drug and substance test on all contestants. Let’s just pray that something miraculous will happen, and just like Jonah, Rivers people can be regurgitated from the belly of the murderous whale (Emperor Wiks) where we currently are now.
May 2023 NOT be like 2019. Salah
