Afrobeats singer Asake has expressed deep sorrow following the death of a 20-year-old woman during his concert at the Nyayo National Stadium in Nairobi, Kenya.
The deceased, identified as Karen Lojore, reportedly lost her life after a brief stampede broke out near one of the stadium’s entry points as fans attempted to gain access to the venue. She was said to have been crushed in the process.
Reacting to the incident via his Instagram Story, Asake said he was devastated by the tragic development and extended his heartfelt condolences to the family, friends and loved ones of the deceased.
The incident has sparked fresh concerns about crowd control and safety at large music events, coming amid renewed scrutiny of concert-related stampedes following previous tragedies, including the 2022 Brixton incident in the United Kingdom.
