A family of six has been found dead in their residence in Ogale Community, Eleme Local Government Area of Rivers State, sparking shock and grief among residents.
The victims were identified as Obele Theophilus, his wife, their children, and a brother-in-law. According to neighbours, the family retired to bed on Saturday night, January 10, 2026, but failed to wake up the following morning.
Concern arose on Sunday, January 11, after the family’s door remained locked well past 10 a.m. Despite repeated attempts to get a response, neighbours received none, prompting them to force the door open.
Upon entry, the lifeless bodies were discovered in different parts of the house. The man and the children were reportedly found on a bed, the wife was located in the bathroom, while the brother-in-law’s body was found near the door, suggesting he may have attempted to exit the house.
As of the time of filing this report, the cause of death remains unknown. Authorities are yet to issue an official statement, but investigations are expected to commence to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
