The family of a 300-level student of Ignatius Ajuru University of Education, identified as Okpor, who was shot dead by suspected cultists in the Rumuolumeni area of Port Harcourt, has vowed not to rest until those responsible are brought to justice.
In a statement on Tuesday, the victim’s elder brother, Ambrose Okpor, said the family is devastated by the tragic incident. He insisted that the deceased was not involved in cult activities, contrary to speculation.
Ambrose confirmed that his brother’s body has been deposited in a morgue, calling on security agencies to intensify efforts to apprehend the culprits.
The Rivers State Police Command had earlier confirmed the killing, stating that Okpor was gunned down over the weekend by unknown assailants suspected to be cult members. The command also disclosed that an investigation has been launched into the incident.
