The Rivers State Government has said that Governor Wike never made any statement concerning the decision of the Central Bank of Nigeria to purchase Gold worth N5 Billion from the Zamfara state Government.
This is in reaction to rumours that the governor was not pleased with the development and had lamented that the same privilege be given to Rivers State.
Commissioner for Information and Communication, Hon. Paulinus Nsirim in a statement today said the reports are completely false and misleading as the Governor never made such comments.
He said ” Let us state here categorically that Governor Wike never made such a statement. Infact, we note with a sense of relief, that no major, mainstream News media or Press Organization, either print, electronic or online, attached to Government House, Port Harcourt, carried this concocted story.”
“So it is a wonder where the mushroom, less than credible social media outlets got the comments, which they claimed Governor Wike made “while addressing the Press,” he added.
He urged members of the public to disregard the reports as it is the handiwork of cynical and dubious detractors.
