The Centre For Basic Rights Protection And Accountability Campaign in Rivers State, has reacted to the dismissal of three students of the Ignatius Ajuru University, for allegedly raping a female student.
Vice Chancellor of the Institution, Prof. Mekuri Ndimele had in a statement announced the dismissal of the students, following the incident which occured last year.
The group’s Head of Women Mobilization, Miss Uzoma Kelechi, in a chat with Journalists on Wednesday, commended the Management of the school, for the bold step.
She said the Senate of the institution has proven that issues of sexual violence do not have a place in the institution.
Miss Uzoma who also noted that the sanction will serve as deterrent to others, said the institution has reinstalled public confidence on the safety of female students on campus.
She further explained that the VC had assured them that justice would be served on the matter, when they contacted him, few months ago.
