A substance believed to be dynamite has exploded at the Mile 3 market, leaving scores of traders injured.
Eyewitnesses say the incident occurred this morning at the market in Diobu, Port Harcourt, while traders were about displaying their goods.
A female trader at the market confirmed to Elanhub that the substance was allegedly thrown into the market and landed on a carton of fish of one of the traders before going off.
She said the woman who was opening the carton of fish at the time was badly Injured, including some other persons close to her.
She also said the incident caused tension and panic in the area, as traders scampered for safety.
The terrified trader explained that those injured have been taken to the hospital for treatment.
There are rumors making the rounds that the incident may not be unconnected with the sit-at-home order by members of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, to scare people away from the market.
The leadership of the market and the Police are yet to confirm the incident. Efforts to reach both parties proved abortive.
