The chairman of Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni local government area of Rivers state – Hon. Vincent Job has confirmed the explosion at an illegal tapping point in the area on Sunday.
Job in a statement said 20 persons lost their lives in the incident while scores were injured.
He accused security operatives of aiding oil thieves in the area, and called on youths to desist from the illegal act.
Meanwhile, Chairman of Niger Delta Youth Movement, ONELGA chapter, Emeka Ukwuosah, has advised youths in the area to engage in meaningful activities and shun oil bunkering.
Ukwuosah who condemned the oil bunkering going on within the area, called on security agencies to be up and doing to curb the menace.
