Solomon Lenu, Spokesperson of the Rivers State Civil Society Organizations, has called on opposition parties in the state to synergize with civil societies to stop what he described as “tyranny of the PDP Government.”
Lenu in a statement Today said the only solution is to hit the street to say “enough is enough” as no single group can do it alone.
According to him, violence is one of the few strategies the People’s Democratic Party in the state intend to use to steal next year’s election.
His statement reads
Opposition Parties Must Synergize With Civil Society To Stop The Tyranny Of PDP Gov’t.
No Single Group Can Do It Alone, so at this point, the only solution is to hit the street to say “enough is enough”
Violence Is One Of The Few Strategies Wike’s PDP Intend To Use To Steal Next Year’s Election In The State.
On the 23rd of September 2022, a group known as “Rivers Peace & Security Initiatives, (RPSI), invited all guber candidates for the next election for a “Peace Pact”. This initiative was borne out of the need to have a peaceful elections in our state come 2023.
In pursuance of peace, this group put together a peace & security summit on the 23rd day of September where guber candidates of all major political parties in the state were invited for a peace accord.
All invited candidates came, those who had emergency or unforseen exigencies that affected their participation also sent words or representatives, except the PDP and its candidate.
The PDP presented a no-show despite adequate invitation and follow up. The team had sent a letter properly inviting the PDP and even visited the party’s chairman Amb Desmond Akawor, and all assurances of their participation was given. But at the end, their candidate never showed up.
Therefore, is anyone still in doubt that PDP had planned all the violence they are unleashing on other political parties today long before now? Only the gullibles will still be in doubt as to linking the PDP to the flashes of violence creping up in the build up to next year’s election.
But the truth remains that, if the Governor doesn’t put an end to the violence and tyrannical orders he has been shoving down the throat of Rivers people, then every little goodwill he may have had after leaving office on May 29th next year will completely be eroded. Therefore, it is wise for the governor to have a retrospective review of his actions now.
It is better late than never.
