The Minority Right Group International is set to launch its annual flagship publication on June 20th, 2023. This year’s report focuses on the many minorities and indigenous people and how the water crisis has become an existential crisis for them.
Heavy flooding across Africa, Pakistan and other human activities has led to the disruption of the planet’s water cycle. The group believe for water justice to be attained, communities that protect the water systems should be prioritised in the international arena.
Mercy Ette, a Nigerian journalist and researcher with expertise in gender, politics and conflict is one of the panellists expected to analyze a range of intersecting issues from conflict in water-stressed parts of the world to pollution impacting community health. Other panellists are George Kibiike, Zumretay Arkin, Nicolas Salazar Sutil, and Oula-Antti Labba. Anna Alboth, Europe Media Officer of the Minority Right Group would moderate the panel.
The launch event is scheduled to hold on Tuesday, June 20th and live captioning would be available to all. The time is 10.00-11.30 am (London), 11.00-12.30 pm (Budapest), 12.00-13.30 (Kampala).
