The Rivers State Police Command, says it had launched an investigation into the circumstances leading to the death of over nine wedding guests in a ghastly motor accident along the Akpoku Road, in Etche Local Government Area, of the state.
Spokesperson of the command, Nnamdi Omoni said this in a chat with Punch on Monday.
He stated that five bodies have so far, been recovered and deposited in a mortuary.
“Yes, I am aware of it. We are still investigating the incident. But five bodies were recovered from the scene and deposited in a hospital mortuary,” he said
“Some persons with injuries were taken to the hospital. I don’t know if there were more deaths,” he added.
According to eyewitnesses the fatal road crash was caused by speeding.
