PUBLIC ANNOUNCEMENT
The Etche Local Government Council hereby declares Mr. Kingsley Chinedu Ofoegbu, popularly known as “Baron”, and Mr. Nwaoha Levi, WANTED for their involvement in a recent criminal act that occurred within Etche Local Government Area.
On Thursday, 9th October 2025, at about 12 noon, I received distress calls from officials of the Etche Local Government Council reporting that Mr. Kingsley Chinedu Ofoegbu (alias Baron) and Mr. Nwaoha Levi, in the company of some unidentified armed men, launched an attack and abducted eight (8) council officials who were on official duty at Umuebulu Junction, near the Imo Bridge. The victims were taken to an unknown destination.
Subsequent investigations revealed that the armed men accompanying the suspects claimed to be operatives of the FCID Annex, Uwani, Enugu State, but were on illegal duty, having failed to notify or obtain clearance from the Rivers State Police Command before entering the state.
In the course of my inquiries, I met with the DPO of Umuebulu, the Area Commander, Oyigbo, and later the Commissioner of Police, Rivers State Command, all of whom confirmed that no legitimate police operation or investigation had been authorized in that area at the time of the incident. Further findings confirmed that the supposed police team from FCID Annex Uwani, Enugu State, acted illegally and without official authorization.
In light of this, I hereby call on the Nigerian Police Force and all relevant security agencies to ensure the immediate arrest and prosecution of Mr. Kingsley Chinedu Ofoegbu (alias Baron) and Mr. Nwaoha Levi, who are responsible for this heinous and criminal act.
The Etche Local Government Council has consequently declared both individuals WANTED and urges the general public to report any information regarding their whereabouts to the nearest Police Station.
A cash reward of One Million Naira (₦1,000,000) has been placed as bounty for anyone who provides credible information leading to their arrest.
I wish to express my appreciation to the Inspector General of Police, the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of FCID, the Assistant Inspector General (AIG) of FCID, and the Commissioner of Police, Rivers State Command, for their prompt intervention and swift action, which led to the safe release of the kidnapped council officials.
As a council, we reaffirm our commitment to cooperate fully with the police and all security agencies to ensure justice is served and peace is sustained in Etche Local Government Area.
Signed:
Chief (Hon.) Chima Boniface Njoku, JP
