The Executive Chairman of Etche Local Government Area, Dr. Obinna Anyanwu, DSSRS, on Wednesday, commissioned an Ultra Modern Market comprising of 100 open stalls with an office, and toilet facilities at Nihi Community in Nihi Ward 7 built by his administration for public use, and to the delight of the people of the area.
The Nihi Ultra Modern Market is in line with Dr. Anyanwu’s ‘One Ward, One Project’ initiative in ensuring that the nineteen political wards of Etche Local Government Area benefits from his developmental strides.
At the ceremony, Dr. Anyanwu said that his administration has replicated similar market projects in some wards in the area to make commerce conducive for buyers and sellers and boost internally generated revenue.
The Council Chairman, however, appealed to traders who still display their wares on the roadside to move into the new market to allow for a free flow of traffic and for their personal safety.
He added that the market will stimulate economic activities and boost the economy of the people of the area.
Anyanwu assured that more projects embarked upon in the area will commissioned.
Commissioning the market project, the Executive Chairman of Omuma Local Government Area, Rt. Hon. Chisom Nwaiwu, DSSRS, commended his Etche counterpart, Obinna Anyanwu for embarking on projects that improves on the economic livelihood of the people of Etche.
Rt. Hon. Nwaiwu said he believes that the new market will greatly facilitate economic activities and makes life easier and better for the people of Nihi, especially by creating for them an enabling environment to make income.
According to him, the leadership of Etche Council has done a commendable work for women and men who will further make income to make life comfortable for them and their families.
The Omuma Council Chairman charged the people of Nihi to take ownership of the market and safeguard it.
On his part, the Chairman of PDP in Etche Local Government Area, Barr. John Otamiri praised Obinna Anyanwu and described him as a promise keeper who has the people of Etche at heart.
Earlier in his welcome address, the Chairman, Community Development Committee of Nihi Community, Michael Iroka said that the people of the area are highly appreciative of the project and thanked Dr. Anyanwu for the execution of the people-oriented project in the area.
Also, the Chairman of PDP in Nihi Ward 7, Kelvin Akanwa equally appreciated the Chairman for the construction and commissioning of the Nihi Ultra Modern Market noting that it will go a long way in boosting their economic activities.
