The Executive Chairman of Etche Local Government Council, Chief Hon. Chima Boniface Njoku JP, has declared Mr. Chibuike Okere, also known as “Nnaye” of Umuchoko Chokota, wanted for unlawful possession of firearms, cultism, terrorism, and kidnapping. The suspect is accused of mobilizing cult groups and terrorizing the Chokota and Ikwerengwo communities.
Dr. Mrs. Uche Ken Ndukwu, Spokesperson on Anti-Land Grabbing, Land Acquisition Management, and Development, confirmed the announcement in a statement.
Hon. Njoku announced a bounty of five hundred thousand naira (₦500,000) for anyone, including police officers, who provides credible information leading to the arrest or apprehension of Mr. Okere.
He reaffirmed that his administration will continue to support security agencies in their efforts to curb insecurity in Etche, stressing that no individual, regardless of their influence or position, is above the law.
The council chairman also called on traditional rulers, youths, and community leaders to cooperate with the government and security agencies by reporting any suspicious activities in their areas, emphasising that such collaboration is key to achieving lasting peace in the local government area.
