The Executive Chairman of Etche Local Government Area, Hon. Chima Boniface Njoku, has appointed forty-five widows from the Obibi community as Special Advisers on Widows’ Affairs.
Anyanwu ThankGod, Assistant Press Secretary of the council said the announcement was made when the windows visited the chairman at the council.
Hon. Njoku said the appointments were in line with his administration’s commitment to inclusiveness, empowerment, and grassroots development. He directed that the newly appointed advisers should commence their duties immediately, adding that his government recognizes the vital role widows play in community welfare and moral support.
He described the initiative as part of ongoing efforts to integrate widows into local governance and give them a stronger voice in decision-making. Hon. Njoku further assured the group of his continued support and urged them to discharge their responsibilities with honesty and dedication.
Speaking on behalf of the widows, the group’s leader expressed deep appreciation to the chairman for his compassion and recognition of their contributions to community development. She pledged their total support and prayers for the success of his administration.
