The Chairman of Etche Local Government Area, Chief Hon. Chima Boniface Njoku, on Saturday, officially flagged off the issuance of ATM cards to beneficiaries of the Rivers State Cash Transfer Programme under the National Social Safety-Nets Project (Phase One).
The event, held at the Etche Local Government Council Headquarters in Okehi, marked a major step toward strengthening the state’s social welfare initiative aimed at supporting poor and vulnerable households.
Speaking at the ceremony, Hon. Njoku commended the organizers for their dedication to implementing the programme and urged them to ensure that only genuine beneficiaries receive the cards. He further emphasized the need for transparency and accountability throughout the exercise.
The Council Chairman also appealed to the programme coordinators to extend subsequent phases to include poor and vulnerable persons across all communities in Etche, ensuring equitable distribution of the benefits.
Reaffirming his administration’s commitment to people-oriented governance, Hon. Njoku pledged continued support for initiatives that promote social welfare, reduce poverty, and improve the living standards of Etche citizens.
