Etche Local Government Area Chairman, Chief Hon. Chima Boniface Njoku, has announced the enforcement of a strict “No Work, No Pay” policy for council workers as part of efforts to promote discipline, efficiency, and productivity in the local government workforce.
Chief Njoku made the announcement on Monday during a staff verification exercise at the Council Secretariat, where he expressed displeasure over absenteeism and laxity among some employees. He described such conduct as unacceptable and warned that appropriate measures would be taken to restore work ethics and commitment to duty.
The Chairman also directed the immediate establishment of a monitoring team and the introduction of an attendance register to ensure punctuality and dedication among staff.
Earlier in the day, Chief Njoku inspected ongoing development projects initiated by his administration within the Council Secretariat. These include the landscaping of the Council premises, the construction of a new security house, and the modern staff canteen and lock-up shops currently under construction.
He was accompanied on the inspection by the Vice Chairman, Hon. Ijeoma Onyeso Obene, and other political appointees of the Council.
