The Executive Chairman of Etche Local Government Area of Rivers State, Hon. Obinna Anyanwu has commenced the construction of a police station opposite the Etche campus of the Rivers State University in Abara community to provide security for the school.
Chief Press Secretary to the council Chairman, Kaycee Robinson in a statement on Thursday, said the project is inline with Governor, Nyesom Wike’s directive.
He said, the council Chairman at the ceremony on Thursday to kick off the project, explained that the gesture was aimed at ensuring security of lives and properties on campus.

The Executive Chairman of Etche Local Government Area, Chief Hon. Obinna Anyanwu Ph.D, has commenced the construction of a police station opposite the Etche campus of the Rivers State University in Abara community to provide security for the institution.
This is inline with Governor Nyesom Wike’s directive to Dr. Anyanwu last month to, as his contribution, construct a police station opposite the RSU Etche Campus within the next 3 months in order to provide security for the campus.
Speaking on Thursday at the ceremony to kick off the project, Dr. Anyanwu, said the gesture was aimed at ensuring security of lives and property on the campus.
The chairman added that the construction of the Police Station is another fulfilment of his strong commitment to safer and secure clime that will engender confidence of students on the campus and also investors considering the fact that the area is within the precinct of estate companies and proposed sites for private universities.
Deputy Leader of Etche Legislative Assembly, Faith Amadi in her welcome address, commended the Etche council chairman for embarking of the legacy project.
Also Chairman, People’s Democratic Party, PDP, Etche chapter, Barr. John Otamiri said the party is happy with Dr. Anyanwu for surpassing the expectations of the people.
On his part, PDP candidate for Etche State constituency 2, Chimezie Nwankwo described the police station project as a campaign tool for the party in the forthcoming general elections.
The police station when completed will have three office space, one general office, three cells with toilet facilities, two general toilet, and a bedroom apartment.
