TEXT: ACTS 16:23-40
MEMORY VERSE: “And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed and sang praises unto God and the prisoners heard them and suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken and immediately all the doors were opened and every one’s bands were loosed.” Acts 16:25, 26 KJV
The Bible says that God inhabits in the praises of Israel Psalm 22:3b. When we pray to God He is happy and answers the prayer but manifestation of the prayer may not be immediate. But during praises God always does something miraculous.

Our brethren Paul and Silas tapped into this knowledge and instead of complaining (murmuring) about their predicament, they resorted to singing praises to God. Recall that in verse 23 they were beaten thoroughly before being thrown into prison. What do we do in a situation like this? We are advised to praise god and not to murmur Philippians 1:14, 1Corinthians 10:13 says that no temptation will overcome us as He is with us to the end of time. We are admonished to praise the Lord at all times and in all situations Heb. 13:15, Psalm 34:1.
