TEXT: EPHESIANS 5:1-14
MEMORY VERSE: “Be imitators of God, therefore, as dearly beloved children.” Ephesians 5:1 NIV
Growing up, children imitate their parents and guardians. This action plays no small part in the formative years of children. In our text above, Apostle Paul teaches us to imitate God as children do their parents/guardians. We should imitate His acts, words, nature, ways, graces, and Spirit. Christ dwelling in us and we being in Him make us saints. Our text reveals that fornication, uncleanness, covetousness, filthiness, foolish talking, and jesting are some of the things that are forbidden to saints (vv. 3 & 4).

Don’t let the people of the world deceive you with their empty words to be partakers with them (vv. 6 & 7). You are meant to be “Light” to them (darkness) always. “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your father which is in heaven” (Matt. 5:16). There is just no way you can be light to others (darkness) if you don’t imitate God always. There is just no secret or hiding place from the eyes of God (2 Chron. 16:9). It is only in imitating God that Christ can give you light (v 4)
CHALLENGES
Are there things you do in secret and think they are not known?
Do you still think darkness can hide you from the light (Christ)?
PRAYER POINT
Jesus, you are the light that expels worldly darkness, shine through me to lighten the world around me today and always. Amen.
