MEMORY VERSE: “All power is given unto me in heaven and on earth.” Matthew 28:18
TEXT: LUKE 10:7-22 (KJV)
And in the same house remain, eating and drinking such things as they give: for the labourer is worthy of his hire. Go not from house to house.
8 And into whatsoever city ye enter, and they receive you, eat such things as are set before you:
9 And heal the sick that are therein, and say unto them, The kingdom of God is come nigh unto you.
10 But into whatsoever city ye enter, and they receive you not, go your ways out into the streets of the same, and say,
11 Even the very dust of your city, which cleaveth on us, we do wipe off against you: notwithstanding be ye sure of this, that the kingdom of God is come nigh unto you.
12 But I say unto you, that it shall be more tolerable in that day for Sodom, than for that city.
13 Woe unto thee, Chorazin! woe unto thee, Bethsaida! for if the mighty works had been done in Tyre and Sidon, which have been done in you, they had a great while ago repented, sitting in sackcloth and ashes.
14 But it shall be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon at the judgment, than for you.
15 And thou, Capernaum, which art exalted to heaven, shalt be thrust down to hell.
16 He that heareth you heareth me; and he that despiseth you despiseth me; and he that despiseth me despiseth him that sent me.
17 And the seventy returned again with joy, saying, Lord, even the devils are subject unto us through thy name.
18 And he said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven.
19 Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.
20 Notwithstanding in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you; but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven.
21 In that hour Jesus rejoiced in spirit, and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes: even so, Father; for so it seemed good in thy sight.
22 All things are delivered to me of my Father: and no man knoweth who the Son is, but the Father; and who the Father is, but the Son, and he to whom the Son will reveal him.

The word “power” is the ability or right to or for control. Someone who have the authority to be in charge of an organization or part of the organization. However, the portion of power given to him is commensurate to his obligation or scope of his duty in view of the number of people under him. Your jurisdiction in a structure built for an organization determines how powerful you are. Thus, in an organization, you have the supervisors, managers, directors, managing directors, the chairman. The group chairman as the case may be/can choose any structure therefore, be it political, economic, academic, spiritual or religious. The levels of power will be clearly specified for smooth operations.
In the case above, spiritual organogram is on display here where the Most High God is on the apex of the Eternal triangle, followed by Jesus on the right and the Holy Spirit on the left (the word of God and the Spirit of God). See the flow of power and spiritual authority. Philippians 2:9 “Wherefore God hath highly exalted him, and given Him (Jesus Christ) a name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus, every knee should bow; of things in heaven, and things on earth, and the things under the earth” (Romans 14:11; Matthew 28:18).
Ephesians 1:19-21 says, “And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward, who believe according to the working of his mighty power which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead and set him at his right hand in the heavenly places, far above principalities and power and might and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in the world to come; and hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things in the church.”
This enormous power undoubtedly has given Jesus Christ the authority to say in Matthew 28:18 “All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth…”, “Go ye therefore… or behold I give you power to tread on serpents and scorpion, and over all the power of the enemy; and nothing shall by any means hurt you” (Luke 20:19).
The above therefore authenticates our position as children of God, ministers of the gospel and saint militants, who are empowered by the Holy Spirit to overcome the world, possess our possession on earth and set free those that are under the yoke of oppression and seized by the kingdom of darkness.
In summary, the Christians, especially the Eternal members must rise up to the challenges posed by the kingdom of darkness since the authentic and undiluted power from the Lord and savior; has been endowed on us to further the gospel to the ends of the world.
This spiritual hierarchy affords you as a child or minister of God to use the authority and power of our Lord Jesus to win all battles and bring joy to heave
- We must acknowledge the all power of Jesus Christ at all time.
- Father, let the endowment of the Holy Spirit be permanent in my life.
