ESOCS Devotional 8 November 2021
TEXT: PROVERBS 23: 15-25
MEMORY VERSE: “For surely there is an end; and thine expectation shall not be cut off” (Proverbs 23:18 KJV).
Everything that has a beginning also has an end. Our memory verse points to that truth. We might be passing through difficult times in life and you are asking, “Would this ever end”? YES! There would be an end. We should draw strength from God’s word today to overcome that feeling of hopelessness.
The Bible says, “For His anger is but for a moment, but His favour is for a lifetime or in His favour is life. Weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning” (Ps. 30:5 AMP). 2 Corinthians 4:17 gives a further illumination: “For our light, momentary affliction (this slight distress of the passing hour) is ever more and more abundantly preparing and producing and achieving for us an everlasting weight of glory [beyond all measure, excessively surpassing all comparisons and all calculations, a vast and transcendent glory and blessedness never to cease!]” (AMP).
The unfavourable situation we experience in life is a passing phase. Let us with hope, faith, and thankfulness wait for the hour of joy and rejoicing. Such hour would definitely manifest in our life. Nothing can stop it! Therefore, with calm resolve let us be diligent to look into our circumstance and see if there is something God is pointing out to us in our life. There could an aspect of our Christian life that is defective or in which we are lacking; and He wants us to correct it. Again, He could have taken us into His divine school of learning but we do not understand. Let us look inwards. Let us just wait. We would receive the things for which we have hope.
