ESOCS Devotional 8 June 2021
TEXT: REVELATION 4:1-11
MEMORY VERSE: “After this I looked, and, behold, a door was opened in heaven: and the first voice which I heard was as it were of a trumpet talking with me; which said, Come up hither, and I will show thee things which must be hereafter” (Revelation 4:1 KJV).
An angel called up Apostle John the Divine into heaven to reveal certain secrets to him. He would not be able to see or understand such things in his mortal state or being. He needed to be lifted up from the world in spirit to have such glorious divine experience.
In like manner, God in making a clarion call to us all. We cannot receive the revelation of His will or the knowledge and understanding of His demands from us unless we obey His call and take our hearts and minds away from the corrupt things and pleasures of this sinful world. Let us train our imagination to dwell on the things and ways of God, which lead to edification, holiness, and righteous living.
We were lifted up into the heavenlies through the resurrection of Christ. The Scripture says, “[He} raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus …” (Eph. 2:6-7 NKJV).
He expects us to remain there perpetually. Unfortunately, many people have gone down from that glorious height through their lifestyle. They need to mount up again, for that is where they should be.
It is a call to purity, sanctification, sinlessness, spiritual beauty, life of integrity, honesty, and such like. Let us answer that call, for it is a wise thing to do.

- Father, help me in my desire to climb higher in your word.
