TEXT: ACTS 16:13-22
MEMORY VERSE: “Once when we were going to the place of prayer, we were met by a slave girl who had a spirit which she predicted the future. She earned a great deal of money for her owners by fortune telling.” Acts 16:16 NIV.
The ministry of prophesy is an honoured one and Prophets/Prophetesses are well respected. In Hosea 12:13, the Bible says “and by a prophet the Lord brought Israel out of Egypt, and by a prophet was he preserved”. Thus, any one called and operating in this ministry must hold it very sacred in order to work effectively in his duty post and please God who appointed him.

Unfortunately, one of the challenges now is that they are too many people parading themselves as prophets/prophetesses who are not. They are using any type of spirit to prophesy and make money. Some exist who demonic prophets/ prophetesses are camouflaging as the prophets of God in the churches. Their life style is not in tandem with Christian way of life. They are those who emanate from the occult world, speaking to us in the disguise of prophecy, what they were told from the occult. Some speak from the cover of the witches and wizards.
We must watch out for these fake prophets around us. The ability to prophesy is not a confirmation or a seal that one is a true prophet of God. We must be mindful and watchful.
CHALLENGES
