TEXT: LUKE 6:27–38
MEMORY VERSE: “And as ye would that men should do to you, do ye also to them likewise.” Luke 6:31 KJV
Orange tree cannot bear mangoes as fruits; or can a guava tree give out apples as fruits. It is naturally expected that an orange tree bears oranges while a guava tree gives guavas. As a Christian who harbours the Holy Spirit, you are supposed to manifest and give the fruit of the Holy Spirit (Gal. 5:22-23). A Holy Ghost-filled Christian is not expected to behave the way the unbelievers would behave. If you behave like them, then, you don’t have something new or alien to them that would attract them to where you belong (Kingdom of God).

In our text, the four (4) laws of love (v. 27-28), the four (4) laws of retaliation (v. 29-30), the four (4) laws of mercy (V. 35-36), and the four (4) laws of justice (V. 37-38) are the interpretations of the golden rule (vv. 31-34; Matt. 7:12). These sum up the righteousness of the law, the prophets, and the gospel (Matt. 7:12b). This is also a command from the Lord, which when obeyed, attracts two (2) blessings: Great reward (v 35; 6:23); and Sonship with God. (v 35)
You have no other choice than to obey and give what you have, as a child of God.
CHALLENGES
Are you still unequally yoked together with unbelievers? (2 Cor. 6:14)
PRAYER POINT
Lord Jesus, convict, convince, and convert us totally with the presence of the Holy Spirit in us. That we may obey your command and receive our rewards forever. Amen.
