TEXT: Daniel 6: 1-13 KJV
MEMORY VERSE: “Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil.” Psalm 23:4a KJV
Daniel was such a faithful man – both in his service to God, and to his secular office as Chief President in the Medo-Persian Empire. In faithfulness to God, he “…purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king’s meat, nor with the wine which he drank …” in order to remain fit in God’s service (Daniel 1:8). In our text today, we see that his faithfulness to his office endeared him to King Darius, who appointed him Chief over all other presidents and governors throughout the empire. This earned him the envy and jealousy of his contemporaries, who conspired to have him cast into the den of lions. But his faithfulness to God caused God to intervene and saved him from the lions. Halleluyah!

In Habakkuk 3:17-18, we see also that Prophet Habakkuk was a man of great confidence, as a result of his faithfulness in God’s business. As for him, “even though the fig trees have no blossoms, and there are no grapes on the vines; even though the olive crop fails, and the fields lie empty and barren, yet I will rejoice in the Lord! I will be joyful in the God of my salvation” (NLT). See also Psalm 31:14-21, Numbers 14:6-9. Child of God, remain faithful in God’s service, for in faithfulness lies joy, triumph and life everlasting.
CHALLENGES
- In Gen. 22:2, God tested Abraham’s faithfulness by asking him to offer up Isaac. Do you think if you are so tested, your faithfulness will be able to stand?
PRAYER POINT
- In 3 John 1:3, John identified Gaius as a most faithful servant and friend of God. Dear Lord, it is my desire to be so identified. So help me Lord. Amen.
