TEXT: EXODUS 34:29-35
MEMORY VERSE: “Now it was so, when Moses came down from Mount Sinai (and the two tablets of the Testimony were in Moses’ hand when he came down from the mountain), that Moses did not know that the skin of his face shone while he talked with Him” (Exodus 34:29).
God called Moses up to the mountain. He was in God’s presence for 40 days and nights. He received the Law – the Ten Commandments. When he came down from God’s holy presence, a remarkable difference was noticed on his face. It shone with the light of God.
Dwelling in God’s presence all the time is a good thing. It would enable us to receive the impartation we need to excel in life. We would be different from others. Moses became quite different from the rest of the Israelites. Like him, we would receive a different and higher anointing. We would not remain the same.
When we dwell in God’s presence, we would be trained by the Holy Spirit to live our life for God in the purity of heart and mind, and we would become pleasant to God as His obedient children. He will reveal His secrets to us because we would become His friends: “The Lord is a friend to those who fear him. He teaches them his covenant” (Ps. 25:14). For Abraham who became a friend of God, He said, “… Shall I hide from Abraham [My friend and servant] what I am going to do” (Gen. 18:17 AMP).
Dwelling in God’s presence would bring peace, godly pleasures, goodness, and all kinds of blessings into our lives: “You will show me the path of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy; At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore” (Ps 16:11 NKJV).
What does it mean to dwell in God’s presence? It means to devote ourselves to live in holiness and righteousness, and be committed to it as our bounding duty, as we read, study, and meditate on His words always.
- Spend your life in God’s presence for His rich rewards.
- Lord grant me thirst for your presence.
