TEXT: MALACHI 3:8-18 KJV
MEMORY VERSE: “And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground; neither shall your vine cast her fruit before the time in the field, saith the LORD of hosts.” Malachi 3: 11 KJV
Our text reveals to us the cause of the devourer in our lives, homes, offices, and businesses, as well as our health. We have robbed God in our tithes and offerings and the consequence as revealed in verse 9 is the plague of a curse for not tithing. What then can we do to avoid the curse from manifesting and the devourer rebuked our sakes?
A devourer is a destroyer. Common examples are the locust or caterpillar or any such creature that eats up crops. It could also be in form of plant diseases. The promise of God to rebuke the devourer for your sake is premised on the ability of Christians to cease robbing God. Christians are required to bring their tithes into God’s storehouse as part of our act of worship. This comes with immense benefits.
The benefits of tithing ranges from God opening the windows of heaven to pour out His blessings, to rebuking the devourer (anything responsible for shortages or irrelevant expenses) for your sake, the fruits of your ground shall not be destroyed neither shall your vine cast its fruits before its time in the field.
