TEXT: MATHEW 7:1-12
MEMORY VERSE: “Therefore, whatever you want men to do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets” (Matthew 7:12 NKJV).
Today’s memory verse is an important guideline for mutual co-existence. It is to enhance love, respect, kindness, mildness, and gentleness towards one another, amongst other things.
When we treat people right, the same manner we want others to treat us, we would all live in peace, fairness, and mutual respect for one another. There would not be any quarrels, hatred, or disaffection. We would endear one another to our hearts.
Treating people kindly is a Christian culture or attitude that we need to develop in us. It does not just happen. We are to build it in us consciously until it becomes part of our make-up or identity. It demands continuous practice. We have to seal it in our hearts, and be diligent never to forget it.
Doing good to others and being kind are part of our Lord Christ’s way of life. The Bible says that He “went about doing good” (Acts 10:38 ASV). Like Him, let us also cultivate the habit of going about doing good. The world is vast. There are many people out there needing someone to show them kindness. Many people need financial help, spiritual intervention, scriptural tutoring, counselling, social assimilation, economic empowerment, and the like. Let us render help in whatever little way we can; this is acceptable to God; and He would bless and reward us for giving succour and comfort to others.
The world is God’s vineyard, and He is looking for people who would commit themselves to working out His purposes. Let’s make it our choice to go everywhere doing good to people. It is a pleasant, enduring, and rewarding engagement. Such work would align us to the Lord Jesus whose passion from the beginning was to come into the world to do good.
