ESOCS Devotional 5 March 2021
TEXT: LUKE 9:51-62
MEMORY VERSE: ““And Jesus said unto him, “No man having put his hand to the plough and looking back is fit for the kingdom of God.” Luke 9:62 KJV
The price you are ready to pay in following Jesus Christ is very important. It is said that what costs nothing worth nothing.
The price is very important because it demands that you forget yourself, let go of your ego (EGO = Edge God Out) and pride, forget all worldly pleasures and earthly satisfaction. You lose the lordship you have over your life and transfer same to Jesus. Let go your mentality, professional training, and personal conviction and submit to the will of Christ.
The cross is a symbol of torture, pain, and suffering. Taking up one’s cross daily entails the willingness to endure sufferings, as the service of God may bring. You don’t run away from suffering. But continue to pray that you overcome every temptation. This is one aspect many Christians and leaders shy away from. Many don’t want to bear the cross of followership. They want the simple and easy way always. There is no limit to which you bear the cross of Jesus. Our family ties and relationships should not hinder our call to serve God. You should balance it in a way so that none suffers. If you must follow Jesus, you must make up your mind to pay the price.
