ESOCS Devotional 5 February 2026 – Divine Assurance
MEMORY VERSE: “Fear ye not, neither be afraid: have not I told thee from that time, and have declared it? Ye are even my witnesses. Is there a God beside me? Yea, there is no God; I know not any.” Isaiah 44:8 KJV
TEXT: ISAIAH 44:1-10
“Yet hear now, O Jacob My servant,
And Israel whom I have chosen.
2 Thus says the Lord who made you
And formed you from the womb, who will help you:
‘Fear not, O Jacob My servant;
And you, Jeshurun, whom I have chosen.
3 For I will pour water on him who is thirsty,
And floods on the dry ground;
I will pour My Spirit on your descendants,
And My blessing on your offspring;
4 They will spring up among the grass
Like willows by the watercourses.’
5 One will say, ‘I am the Lord’s’;
Another will call himself by the name of Jacob;
Another will write with his hand, ‘The Lord’s,’
And name himself by the name of Israel.
6 “Thus says the Lord, the King of Israel,
And his Redeemer, the Lord of hosts:
‘I am the First and I am the Last;
Besides Me there is no God.
7 And who can proclaim as I do?
Then let him declare it and set it in order for Me,
Since I appointed the ancient people.
And the things that are coming and shall come,
Let them show these to them.
8 Do not fear, nor be afraid;
Have I not told you from that time, and declared it?
You are My witnesses.
Is there a God besides Me?
Indeed there is no other Rock;
I know not one.’ ”
9 Those who make an image, all of them are useless,
And their precious things shall not profit;
They are their own witnesses;
They neither see nor know, that they may be ashamed.
10 Who would form a god or mold an image
That profits him nothing?

Divine assurance is having implicit faith and trust that God’s promises are true and faithful. It is a divine pledge that inspires faith, hope, and endurance in believers as they embark on their faith walk. This Divine Assurance is rooted in the supremacy of God; that’s why He said there’s no other God besides Himself. It is rooted in the history of God that is why the Bible says, He is the same yesterday, today and forever. It is rooted in integrity that is why the Bible says, Write for this word is true and faithful, He also says that His word must accomplish whatever it is sent to do. It is rooted in His ability and capacity as written in Ephesians 3:20. It is also rooted in His plan and purpose for us His Children (Jeremiah 29:11).
God has been keeping promises for thousands and thousands of years. The Bible is proof of what He has done and why He has done it. Since He has been keeping promises for so long, why would He stop now? What we need to remember is that God doesn’t change. In our whole life, our whole existence, He is the one person that doesn’t change. Everything else does. Life happens. People die. Babies are born. People get married. People get divorced. People move, leave, and return. Churches change. Jobs change. Economies change. Governments change. But even when everything around us changes, God doesn’t change.
As you look at the predictions or promises of God, you will see that most have been fulfilled. This means that God is in complete control. You do not need to be afraid. Be His bold witness in telling the world that He is the One who is in control and that Jesus will return someday. Do not allow the bad situations in this life to discourage you. God knows what is happening! He already proclaimed it. Keep your focus on God and His promises. He is the Rock that will crush all false gods in the end. Do not despair when things change. Don’t worry and don’t shut down because God’s not changing, and He still has the power to take any situation (especially the ugly ones we’ve screwed up) and make it beautiful. We just have to let Him,
Reflections
- Do you still entertain fear despite God’s assurances?
Prayer
- Oh Lord increase our faith and remove the spirit of fear, in Jesus Christ Mighty Name. Amen.
