TEXT: EPHESIANS 4:7-16
MEMORY VERSE: “But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ.” Ephesians 4:15
0 And the apostles, when they had returned, told Him all that they had done. Then He took them and went aside privately into a deserted place belonging to the city called Bethsaida. 11 But when the multitudes knew it, they followed Him; and He received them and spoke to them about the kingdom of God, and healed those who had need of healing. 12 When the day began to wear away, the twelve came and said to Him, “Send the multitude away, that they may go into the surrounding towns and country, and lodge and get provisions; for we are in a deserted lace ”
The life of a Christians from the point of being born again is like the project of building a temple. You cannot start a project without the finance needed for it. For Christians, the gift of the Holy Spirit is the money needed. You use it to build the model that God specifies. Each of us is given talents by the Spirit. The Bible says: “But unto everyone of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ” (Ephesians 4:7).
We are not all of the same talents “….. he gave some apostles and some prophets, and some evangelists, and some pastors and some teachers” (Ephesians 4:11). If you look closely in all the Branches of our Church today, you will find that every congregation has different men and women talented in the gifts mentioned above. That is the will of the Lord.
The performance of each one’s role as is given by the Spirit helps the needs of the others. And together, the congregation lacks in nothing. The essence of it all as the Bible says is for “…the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ” (Ephesians 4:12).
The Lord desires that by exercise of the gift He has placed in each of us, we will be able to learn from each other and graduate into a full knowledge of God, and complete exercise of the will of God. This is how we can individually represent Christ and as a congregation present the identity of a true body of Christ (vs. 15, 16).
It therefore follows that each of us should exercise the gift God has given him and allow others exercise theirs. No spiritual gift is useless in the body of Christ. By so doing, the members will grow in the power of the Lord and the Church will be known for what it is.
- Do you regard the talent of others in the congregation?
- Father please enable me grow to the full height of faith and knowledge in Christ, in Jesus Name. Amen.
