ESOCS Devotional 4 October
TEXT: Daniel 3:12-30 NKJV
MEMORY VERSE: “Therefore I make a decree, that every people, nation, and language, which speak anything amiss against the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, shall be cut in pieces, and their houses shall be made a dunghill; because there is no other God that can deliver after this sort.” Daniel 3:29 NKV
We live in a time when the challenges of life (the so called trials of faith), have become so overwhelming that even the very elects have been defeated and driven astray. Jesus, in Matthew 24:9 spoke thus, “Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name’s sake.” From the teachings of Matthew 24, we understand that these things must surely come to test our faith: economic woes, social frustration, political intimidation, spiritual manipulations, etc. Apostle James admonishes that we should count it all joy, and as builders of our patience (James 1:2-3).

What a great evangelical achievement for these three Hebrew young men that, following their stubborn resistance, and God’s intervention, King Nebuchadnezzar was humbled to the point that he enacted a decree that promoted reverence to the Almighty God.
Child of God, be strong in the Lord, no matter what comes your way.
CHALLENGES
- If the Lord Jesus in Matthew 24:9 affirms that they shall even deliver you up to be afflicted or even killed for His name’s sake, do you think you have experienced enough persecution, to throw in the towel?
PRAYER POINT
- My God, my Father, I need that grace to carry on to the end. Amen.
