ESOCS Devotional 4 March 2021
TEXT: LUKE 9:43-50
MEMORY VERSE: “John said to Jesus, “Master, we saw someone using your name to cast out demons, but we told him to stop because he is not in our group”. But Jesus said, “Don’t stop him! Anyone who is not against you is for you.” Luke 9:49, 50. NLT
Most of us think that we are the only ones entitled to use the name of Jesus or that we are the only ones that have access to God. That is why some see themselves as assistant God in the sense that we should belong to their prayer group or take permission from them before consulting God in prayer. In today’s scripture, John was trying to inform the Master how he stopped an impostor who was using His name to cast out demons, not knowing that it was a way of spreading the power of God to places.
Have you heard of CATHOLICITY? It means All Christian Churches. There is nothing like sentiment about the denomination you belong to. That you are not among the members of Monday Prayer Group, Wednesday Prayer Group or Friday Prayer Group does not stop your prayers from being answered.
It must not be the prayers of a prophet that will save you. You equally have the power from God to pray for yourself. All of us are one in Christ, whether Pentecostal or Protestant; and we are entitled to use the name of Jesus. (Gal 3:28).
