TEXT: JOHN 5:1-18
MEMORY VERSE: “But Jesus answered them, My Father has worked [even] until now, [He has never ceased working; He is still working] and I, too, must be at [divine] work” (John 5:17 Amp).
Every one born into this world has a purpose for his or her life. This purpose is broken into works or responsibilities that lead to fulfilling God’s will. This calls for serious commitment in all our endeavours. Our response to the general and individual calls should be a matter of business. God demands it from us.
We should be committed to doing good; preaching the gospel, winning souls for Christ, nurturing them, and encouraging them to remain in the Lord and be faithful, no matter the experience life might bring. We should be obligated to do our best in our businesses, careers, occupations, relationships, marriages, and in all areas of our works in life; for all things that we do should bring glory to God. He created us to harness the potentials He has deposited in the world for our benefits, and for His praise and glory: “… Be fruitful, multiply, and fill the earth, and subdue it [using all its vast resources in the service of God and man] …” (Gen. 1:28 AMP).
This goal is part of conforming to the image and likeness of Christ (Rom. 8:29) and growing into His fullness, who is the fullness of the Godhead (Col. 2:9); and we should be committed to it “because in this world we are like him” (1 John 4:17 NIV).
God is committed to taking us back to His original intention when He created us in His own image and likeness (Gen. 1:26). We should be committed like Him in this business.
- Develop the attitude of doing God’s will with commitment and you would be blessed for it.
- Lord, help me to live a committed Christian life in all areas.
